Worship Team Application

Thank you for your interest in being a member of the Calvary Baptist Church Worship Team. Our church is blessed with many talented individuals willing to serve as musicians and vocalists. All members of the Worship Team serve on a volunteer basis, and it is our desire to honor Christ in our worship with excellence and effectiveness.

The Worship Team is a ministry overseen by the Church Elders through the leadership of volunteer Worship Pastor and Elder Don Bishop. Don has served as Worship Pastor of Calvary since August 2001. He – along with Senior Pastor Ben Kimmell and the Church Elders – have the responsibility to make sure those who serve and lead in this ministry agree with our doctrinal positions. In our efforts to be good stewards, and as overseers of Calvary Baptist Church, we have developed this application for those who would like to serve as part of the Worship Team at Calvary Baptist Church (“CBC”).

>> Next: Requirements & Expectations

Requirements & Expectations

  • Live a life that honors Jesus Christ in church, at home, at work, in school and on social media. This includes dressing appropriately, refraining from using profanity, and interacting with others in a Christ-like manner.
  • Engage regularly with God in prayer and Bible study.
  • Be a team player: cooperate with and encourage other members of the Worship Team. Be willing let others grow in their gifts and opportunities to lead and support our worship.
  • Submit to the leadership of Calvary Baptist Church.
  • Regularly attend church services.
  • Be on time and prepared for rehearsals. When possible, be familiar with new material prior to rehearsal.
  • While on stage be mindful to not bring unnecessary attention to oneself.
  • Willing to use click track and loops. In ear monitors are critical for making the sound for the audience and online listeners the best it can be.

Failure to meet Requirements & Expectations

If a member of the Worship Team fails to live up to these standards – including CBC’s statement of beliefs – they will be asked to take a six week leave of absence from service on the Worship Team. After which, they will meet with the Worship Pastor and/or Elders to determine if they are ready to rejoin the Worship Team.

Musicality & Expertise

Members of the Worship Team are made of a group of volunteers, not a professional team. However, each participant needs to be skilled enough in their area to lead and magnify Christ in worship. Therefore, each team member should be prepared, engaged, and proficient. There is a place of service for everyone within the church and everyone has different gifts and abilities. God loves everyone equally. He has given each of us gifts. We are called to use them to the best of our ability for His glory.
